"Naturally a fan of Miles Davis -- fellow Gemini -- NMB seeks here, with his own 5-song wonder, to honor a Davis gem. Even the placement of the key 4th track echoes the marvelous marking Davis had in mind. Says Beier of 'Antonio,' <<it came to me from a dream. I was stripped to the waist and dancing to this rhythm. When I awoke I played the rhythm and discovered the time signature was a ten beat pattern, so I called it a 10/4 groove.>> While this reminisce seems to only cover the technical outlay of the piece, a salient feature is revealed here in that Beier takes inspiration, or better, listens to guidance from dreams. Indeed he articulated later that the emotional background of the wonderful piano solo pieces arrived from a series of dreams. Of 'Sarah' he says, << yes, I dream of bringing a child into the world and her name is always Sarah. This piece is for her.>>
More can be said, but it's time to give this album a listen. I enjoy it on a regular basis and hope you will as well."
